we couldn't have been prouder of our little ruby lou today.
Her first day of school and she took it all in her stride. she was more excited than on christmas morning, myself on the other hand......a crying mess all day long!!!
everyone says to you when you have children 'enjoy it! it flys by and then it all changes when they go to school' ....well we did enjoy it almost every second of it and the last five years have definitely flown by. leaving us a little sad today....the end of a chapter.
i have no worries about ruby at school i know she will love it and will absolutely thrive, but i will miss her being with me everyday and all that goes with that.
anyway.....here's to a new chapter in our lives and ruby's little journey. her first day at school was a success she loved it, and can't wait to go back for a full week next week.
we love you to pieces ruby louise lee, we are so proud of you. you are a lovely girl and we are so excited for everything school will bring.

oh gosh, you've made me cry a little this morning.
ReplyDeleteI was the same last year, when my little one started. I honestly, in absolutely all truth, believe it is worse for the mum than the kids. They are fine, they take it in their stried, they soon settle in and have fun. We on the other hand worry and fret.
My girl was the same. She started year 2 on Tuesday, and I was ok (no tears), but anxious. She on the other hand marched in smiling, was happy as you like and told me she had 'the best school day ever'. Makes life so much easier. I really feel for the mums who have kids that stand and cry and scream as they are dragged in. I only had to deal with that a couple of times, soon after starting Girly had tonsilitis and ended up having a couple of weeks off, when she went back she had a cold. I'd have kept her off longer, but was reluctant for her to miss any more (mistake. my tip, if they are poorly keep them off as long as they need to be and don't worry about them missing out. they soon pick it back up again). So when she went back she was quiet and still not herself. As a result, a couple of mornings I had to walk away hearing her cry. Heartbreaking. Luckily that didn't last beyond a day or two.
And yes. It DOES go so quickly. I didn't send my girl to nursery or playschool or anything like that, I wanted to enjoy her being home for those early years.Wow, was I treated like a freak for that! I'm so glad I stuck to my guns and refused to be bullied into sticking her in nursery so I could (to quote others) 'have some time to myself'. I didn't want time to myself, I was quite happy being a mum!!!
sorry to ramble. Just wanted to say loved this post, and know exactly how you felt. Gets easier, and is really fun as time goes on.
xx
Hi Sadie,
DeleteThank you for sharing and for your advice.
I'm feeling a little better this week. Ruby although a little tired is loving it...and i am so pleased i don't have a screaming child like some of the other mums.
It's a big change but we will get used to it.
Thanks again.

stride, not 'stried'! Need to proof read! x
ReplyDeleteShe look beautiful. I love her satchel. She looks chuffed and very grown up to be going to school.
ReplyDeleteI think all Mummies can relate to this post. It's a big change for Mummy too. Tryto console yourself with the fact that she is really happy about going to school and you have brought up a confident little girl.

Thanks Tracy, finding it a little easier this week. Its a big change but she is loving it. I'm very proud of our little girl. x
DeleteLovely pics Jess, especially the one of Ruby kissing Eliza. What a loving older sister. Hope it's all going well.xxxx
ReplyDeleteAww so sweet in her uniform. Everyone is so right when they say your kids grow fast. My son has just started senior school and I was a jibbering wreck when he left primary! xx
ReplyDeleteWow she's a cutie, and so grown up too. My daughter started 5th September and I cried like a baby lol x
